Classical Bangla Music
Classical Bangla Music forms on the musical modes called Ragas. Many of the Ragas that are native to the Classical Bangla Music can also be found in the Hindusthani Classical Music. Ustad Allauddin Khan was the founder Mahihar Gharana of Hindusthani Classical music. Pandit Ravi Shankar is a Bengali Sitar player and composer.
One of the popular forms of Bengali music is Rabindra Sangeet which is developed by Noble Laureate Rabindra Nath Tagore. Rabindra Nath synthesized all type of music Classical and Folk. He unveiled the inner truth of religion through his songs. Rabindra Nath's outlook of musical compositions was quite different not only from those of the European and Western Countries but also from the Composers of Bengal and India. With keen interest he noticed varied tunes and techniques of music and dances. Ballet dance, Dance of Java, Bali and other provinces of India and abroad were introduced in his own style of dances with a very heartful rhythmic music.

Atul Prasad Sen was a Bengali Composer, lyricist and singer. Songs written by his are called "Atulprasadi". His Songs are patriotism devotion and love. He introduced Thumri style in Bengali Music.
Adhunik Bangla Sangeet
The Adhunik Bangla Sangeet wide popularity as it includes the different kinds of music developed in West Bengal Hemanta Kumar Mukherjee, more popular as Hemanta Mukherjee is known as musician, singer, composer and producer. The other popular singers are Sandhya Mukherjee who was awarded Gitashree for the devotion to music, Satinath Mukhopadhyay, Alpana Bandyopadhyay etc.
