About The Library

The library was established in 1901. Set up as a part of the cultural revolution that swept India during the pre-independence era. It became a Government Sponsored Library in 1981 as a Primary Unit Library and got upgraded as Town Library in the year of 125th birth anniversary of Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore. Government Of West Bengal (Library Deppt) & RRRLF jointly sanctioned fund for the construction of the added portion of the building. This library has created different sections for the women, senior citizen and children. Text books and career guidance are also available here. Total member of library 1500 and a daily footfall is at around 100. Total number of 14000 books are divided into competitive study, manuscript in both Bengali & English.
